Phoenix Mesh Viewer - Important Hotfix update

Please update from Phoenix 1.6.0.1591 to Phoenix Viewer 1.6.0.1600 by downloading again.

Our users discovered and reported a few serious bugs with the 1591 update that got missed by QA.
These issues are...
- Opening of scripts while LSL Preprocessor enabled causes crash to desktop. PHOE-3593
- Scripted dialogs from deeded objects fail. PHOE-3600
- Right click > wear from inventory is broken. PHOE-3583

We consider these three issues to be of critical importance as one prevents content creation of scripts, another breaks existing content in SL and the third breaks inventory functionality. Because of this we are issuing a minor but important update to Phoenix Mesh Viewer version 1591.

If you are on the 1591 version, please upgrade to this new version 1.6.0.1600 available on the quick links to the right or from our downloads page.

We are removing the 1.6.0.1591 release from availability.

Apologies for the inconvenience

  1. Not thrilled with how blocky everything looks now. The old viewer I was perfectly happy with.

  3. The best part about this is that pressing the download button from the notice inside the viewer......crashes the viewer.

  6. Found a small glitch. When I went to change my AA settings from 2x to 4x in the 1600 build, the viewer 'refreshed' like normal...but the 'render' area went totally black. I could see my tag and name floating in the blackness and my chatbar at the bottom, but everything else was flat-black. O_O

  7. I never had any problems like that, but if there are bugs then I guess its good to update things quickly.

  8. Ok the only problem I'm having with Phoenix Viewer 1.6.0.1600 is that the names in the chats are showing as (???)

  9. My Viewer 1.6.0 crashes upon log in.. I am shocked at this, I hope they fix this glitch.

  10. I've had that (???) for names in the past, but only during times of extreme lag, and the names eventually cleared, so I suspect it's a SL problem and not Phoenix.

  11. Phoenix 1.6.0.1600 for Linux is working fine here. No crashes while using it for hours, a few different logins, lots of teleports, and some vehicle driving. I had no crashes or other problems with that 1591 Phoenix either.

This blog says "Right click > wear from inventory is broken", but it definitely worked when I used it in the Linux 1591.

  14. Guys, this is not the place to report problems. The best place to do that is in the Phoenix/Firestorm Support group inworld so you can get help with your problems in a more specific manner.

  15. I'm crashing a lot now for some reason even with the "fix" they provided.

  16. I notice those bugs, but they didn't crashed me once;)
Still going to do the new install asap, even if i was running the new mesh better then the old non mesh (at least didn't crashed always at 1st login).

  17. I wonder if Firestorm has the same "Opening of scripts while LSL Preprocessor enabled causes crash to desktop." Because I get crashed to the desktop frequently with FS ...

  19. in version 1591 found a problem with the notecards inside the prim (content) communicating with the scripts.
trying to change settings in notecards after save it crash the avatar over and over again.
i hope with the new version will fix the problem

  20. Well I gotta say that I didn't have the problems listed. Did plenty of clothing changes, including wearing mesh clothing. I am of the opinion that some of these things were caused by transient world conditions.

  21. Found that while right clicking and choosing "wear" was NOT available in inventory, double-clicking that item resulting in wearing it.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Weird, seems like i don't have bugs... or its only me that not notify that lol, about wearing cloth i always use "add" it all from its folder, or just "double click" it. maybe that why i don't notice it, I never use Right click > wear from inventory.

Btw i will try the new one... (^.^)v

  23. This viewer does not honor Nvidia CP forced AA/AF values and thus result in a degraded IQ.

The IQ degradation is present in the first updated mesh viewer as well.

Tested on GTX 570, GTX 590.

  24. updated to the latest (1.6.0.1600)... now I'm a floating, imploding dust cloud. Graphics are laggy and blocky... nothing is smooth or responsive... and I'm on the lowest graphics setting possible. Yea... cleared cache and rebooted. NOT HAPPY!!!

  25. Odd, in that I didn't have any problems with it at all. What I did notice was that it used a great deal less machine memory than the previous version did; and the image quality was a bit better than before.
I did experience the problem with water rendering though; it almost seemed as if a section of water changed color for a moment, then went back to normal. All told, I enjoy Phoenix with mesh and ask please, remember not all of us have super fast machines that can handle Viewer 2 graphics. So far, there are a very few grafts out there we can use if we don't want a world full of donuts and lumps; and we can use Phoenix where we can't use Firestorm. Don't forget us, please.

  26. To The, non of the mesh viewers let us override the graphic settings, i find that the best is to use the enhance option and put all inside the viewers at max!
But its not a phoneix problem, is LL mesh screwing big, cause in the before mesh viewers you could do so!

  27. Apple Macbook Pro
    2.2 ghz Intel Core i7
    8 GB rams
1GB AMD Radeon HD 6750 graphics card

OpenGL on Phoenix Viewer 1.6 not working!

I still use the 1.5 though because it is superb for frame rates.

  28. Please take a look on Firestorm Final Release too the "Firestorm 3.2.2 additionally incorporates the LL fixes for the OpenGL bugs" is making my gtx260 frozen my entire machine ( win 7 x64)

  30. I am having an issue viewing mesh on the newest MESH compatible phoenix viewer. The mesh doesnt show as boxes, it simply does not show at all. I am able to rez it inworld, but when i wear it, it seems to be invisible. I didnt have any issues on version 1591. unfortunately now I have no way to going back to it.
I hope to see this resoved, mesh is amazing, but i dont like the interface of firestorm or viewer 2.

  31. This updated viewer freezes so badly, like every five seconds.

  32. Congratulations for this Phoenix version, it's really great!
I was not using Firestorm and thought I would have to give up, but Phoenix solved all!

Thank you all for such a great work

  33. Thanks for the update. Yes, bad bridge with inventory problems and buggy and crashy. But nevertheless, I think it is important to sustain Pheonix. The LL V2 viewer GUI is just a bad mistake. Not because it is a change, but because it is a bad change. It takes too much room, the graphic design is crappy, things are not divided in a logical way, and so on. LL mistake, of course, but it is very easy even on Firestorm, to find oneself with loads of silly windows floating around. The so called 'Phoenix interface' does not solve anything. I really hope Firestorm gets a robust tweak so that we can have the originary GUI which works so well for everyone.

  34. Aside from mesh support, there sure were a lot of bug fixes in version 1.6. On the one hand, those fixes must have made Phoenix more stable and, um, more bug-free. On the other hand, adding the mesh code made it less stable. I was wondering, would it be possible to add all those bug fixes to version 1.5.1185 without adding the flaky mesh-related code? I really don't want to "upgrade" to a viewer that has a crappy interface that always gets in my way or to a viewer that is less stable than Phoenix used to be, say, about a year and a half ago when it almost never crashed on me. I don't need mesh support so badly that I would make such compromises. I'd like to continue using Phoenix, with or without mesh support, and it would be nice if it were still updated (in a way that makes it MORE stable, not less stable) when new fixes become available.

  35. i 'd like you add random text colors in local chat for different avatars talking so to have a instantanealy good view of discussion. If it is possible is great.

  36. I crash all over the place now on 1600. First when opening a profile...now it seems like if i zoom on anything. I wish I still had the option to use the other phoenix, but it removed it from my computer :(

  37. Hello, I am user of Phoenix since its inception, and I love the alternate version. I have, I confess, never used the official version or the version firestorm, mostly those becaufe they would not give me the opportunity to have the ability to manage my inventory in my own way, in addition, when I tried several times to get used to it, every time I logged, I appeared with disparate clothes, hair etc ... certainly not because I hate to file or record required that I wear. Yet I have 60,000 items, and I get to meet me as I stowed my rennomant items by category and I am looking for them by name, eg, heels, boots, goggles etc. .. . when you release the left-phoenix firestorm, I immediately used the beta version first, with undisguised delight, I have friends strong supporter of the phoenix who were also delighted, as the main release the graphic quality after it's true that once the official release out (with much fanfare ..) we soon became disillusioned because of bugs appeared and finally it will disappear. Too bad, I began to tell me that I would get used to firestorm with Phoenix (even started recording my outfits, lol) so my only true whether the near or distant future, I had to come to n 'use the firestorm it would be able to manage inventory in my own way, and the windows take up less space on the screen. More features but more discreet. That is, although I'm not read or heard, for once I wanted to make my point of view of love sl depuuis soon 4 years, and thank you all for the great work you do, all so that we can play with as much pleasure. Sincerely, Mija

  38. The graphics on 1600 are really bugging me...I have zigzag edge lines in the new phoenix. I take a lot of pics so this is a problem. Its a bit hard on the eyes to look at. I have also used firestorm. I have not updated the version. I plan on waiting on that for a while. I use firestorm when im taking pics, I do find the rezz time a lot slower than Phoenix.

  39. This will sound really stupid, BUT... I can't be the only one. (1) Are all the versions of Phoenix just earlier software put out by the same development team as Firestorm? (2) What or who is Jira? (3) If I'm not a lady trying on shoes/clothes, do I really need to know about "Mesh"? (4) Has Linden Labs given up on pushing its own viewer? (5) Are beta-Mesh and its successor Mesh going to be around for any length of time, or is LL planning to kill them? If so, what's the next viewer (I've gone through at least five or six in the last five years!) Yes, these are STUPID, ELEMENTARY questions, but I think all the 'brains' are forgetting that most of us who use Second Life need some kind of simple mental 'framework' on which to hang all the technical details.... It could be done in three or four well-written paragraphs using simple English with *no* technical terms!

    ReplyDelete
  40. (1) Yes, kinda. The team has changed over time but it is a team of people who make modifications to the Linden Labs viewer.
    (2) It is a website where people can lodge complaints and report bugs in software.
    (3) Yes because if the people around you wear mesh clothing or the trees, buildings, cars, or other objects around you are made from mesh and your viewer can't see the mesh properly your view of SL will suck.
    (4) Linden Labs makes the viewer everyone uses. All of the other viewers are modifications of the viewer Linden Labs makes.
    (5) Mesh (the "beta" tag was a viewer thing, not a mesh technology thing) will be around for as long as Second Life is around.
